On May 7, 2021 BC presented the first live Virtual Skating Gala produced by Champs International Skating Director Joanne Mcleod and hosted by BC/YK Executive Director Ted Barton.
Our Champs Virtual Gala will be remembered as a virtual show for friends & family. Champs Elite athletes trained hard for their performances and were given a wonderful purpose to close their seasons. Their numbers were so enjoyable to watch as they evolved from practice to performance. Although it was very different not having a live audience, the athletes expressed their passion of choreography, music, and gave purpose to their performances. As vaccinations for British Columbians start to roll out, we will remember the unique way that our Advanced Ensemble expressed their time and experience of the pandemic with their performance to “Time” by Billy Porter choreographed by Joanne Mcleod and Jill Maire Harvey.
It takes a strong team working together to create such a wonderful production and evening. Champs International Skating Centre of BC would like to thank Ted Barton for his talent and belief in this Virtual Gala… the first of its kind in Canada! Also thank you to Danielle Williams, Jesse Sturdy, Rob Woodley, Steve Muff, Jill Marie Harvey, Neil Wilson, Megumu Seki, Megan Wing, Aaron Lowe, Kevin Reynolds, Kathryn Kang, Wona Lee, Kirk Bausback, Aaron Krantz, and the Scotia Barn staff.
